School Life

Disclaimer:This post is completely my own opinion and should not be taken seriously as an insult.Seriously chill.

My parents told me of a time where school was actually not as stressful as it stands now and was actually fun. There were not that many major exams and no stuff like KBAT Or HOTS to bug us everytime.Sure people might say "To move with the times" but I don't like it.

First off, the pressure that is coming off school affects your sanity and mental health.I've seen people who score A+ in their exams but come off sad and pressured.Just recently a girl commited suicide because of her exam results. She could not take the extreme pressure that is our education system. The situation of us Asians here with parents (Specifically moms or 'tiger moms')pressure their kids to become a doctor,lawyer.accountant.engineer and all that.Really takes the freedom of choice out of your life. You come to that crossroad where you have to choose to A)Follow your parent's wishes or B)Follow your own passion

Just like me,I really want to be a comic illustrator but of course my parents think otherwise and forbid me to do so under the reason it's a waste of time or 'there's no market for that here'.So I sit here on my laptop blogging my troubles away.My parents aspire for me to become one of those generic jobs that earn loads of money but lets be honest.I have no interest in Science(Alright maybe I do but not as much as my love for drawing) and maybe I took the pure Science stream in school because my parents pressured me to do so but really I just want to draw comics for a living or something related to that.

I remember the times I sit alone, feeling the pressure choke me slowly.I could cry from the pressure I face everyday if I could.Homework, tuitions, annoying siblings, where has the world gone too?

Then along comes another thorn in my side.KBAT and HOTS.These two education systems are here to 'promote the ability to think among students and to allow them to think out-of-the-box'.I don't believe one bit of that bull. The word 'out-of-the-box' means to think of something that nobody would expect.Yet,according to KBAT and HOTS,there are perimeters that need to be followed when answering.WHAT?!Sounds like they want us to think outside the box,but at the same time we are sealed in a larger box of limits.Sounds legit to me.

Another thing is that our Education System is in a state of confusion, going back on forth on the motion to use English or Bahasa Melayu as our main language of teaching young minds. No wonder my English marks always come out higher. The BM(Bahasa Melayu) exams are far more 'guided' than the English exam. What I mean is that the BM Exam,is extremely closed with word limits and such. While on the other hand,English exams are much more linient with word limits and wether this word can be used or not.

Let me give an example
BM Exam-There is a section of the exam, and I'm not kidding, worth 100 marks and you have to write an 8-10 page long essay, where each paragraph has to be a full page worth of words and must be done within 3 hours.
English Exam-Questions that are far easier and not as evil as the BM Exam.

You must feel bad for us students here now for sure.Maybe one day someone good will take over and change our whole system for the better

'This is the longest rant you've done so far.Wow'
Have not noticed.Too pissed and salty.

So thanks for reading this blog post and sorry if I got any fact wrong.Bye

  1. My advice is, study for a degree then ask for time off to pursue your interests to see if you can make something out of it, maybe in the USA.

  2. Hey you, follow your dreams mate! Parents, or what you have said, Tiger mum, they need to understand you first, that's why they won't listen, because they don't understand you. Have faith :)
